JOSH Tolley was unable to commit to Crompton for every game.
CRICKET: CROMPTON have signed Sami Aslam as their professional for the 2016 Pennine Cricket League season.
The 20 year old takes over from Josh Tolley, who had been pro at Glebe Street for the two previous campaigns. Aslam, a left-hand, top-order batsman and right-arm off break bowler from Lahore, Pakistan, was recommended by former professional Saeed Anwar. Though he is at the start of his cricket career, he has already broken into the Pakistan national side after appearances in the ‘A’ team.
He played in two Tests against Bangladesh last May scoring of 20, 19 and eight.
Crompton captain Simon Wright said: “Although Josh will be playing for us again this year, he could not commit to every game. Anwar is a very promising player. We hope to build a competitive team for the premier division and this signing should help.”
