Oldham fail to build on promising start
Date published: 18 February 2016
NETBALL: OLDHAM were beaten 49-38 at home by Warrington in the North-West Premier League.
Oldham made a promising start that didn’t continue; the hosts couldn’t get the ball into the shooting circle enough. Warrington scored seven goals before Oldham got their second on the scoresheet.
After the first quarter, Warrington were 14-7 up.
Oldham dominated play in the second quarter and came back hard, but still trailed 24-18 at half time.
Oldham continued to make unforced errors, allowing Warrington to take the upper hand. By the end of the third quarter it was 37-30 and though Oldham had a good run in the final quarter, it was too little too late.
Not everything was disappointing; some great netball was played and there were impressive performances from the three under-16 players. Lucy Shepherd was the player-of-the-match.
