Beckett, Jacombs on target

ROYTON Town continued their FBT Manchester League Premier Division title duel with Prestwich Heys as they edged out AFC Monton 2-1.

Alan Beckett and Joe Jacombs registered for Town in Salford. They remain behind leaders Heys on goal difference only.

Springhead drew 3-3 at Hindsford to hang on to fifth position in the standings, but Avro were beaten 1-0 at home by Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Uppermill’s woe continued as they were thumped 5-1 at fellow strugglers Old Alts. Aaron Rodgers bagged the consolation goal.

Hollinwood lost 5-1 at home against Irlam Steel in Division One, but Chadderton’s second string picked up a welcome win, 2-1 at Wilmslow Albion.
