MOSSLEY’S Evo-Stik League Division One North play-off hopes were dealt a severe blow as they crashed to a 4-3 defeat at rivals Ossett Albion.
The Lilywhites looked to be cruising to victory at half-time as they led 3-1, but a second-half collapse could prove costly.
Connor Brunt fired Albion into a fifth-minute lead, but the Lilywhites responded superbly with three goals before the interval.
Tom Pratt and Dave Short handed the visitors the advantage before the quarter of an hour mark.
Skipper Andy Keogh then gave the visitors a two-goal cushion. But it wasn’t enough.
Scott Kerr and Dominic Riordan levelled matters for Albion, before sub Nicky Matthews pounced to score a dramatic winner with 13 minutes to go.
The Lilywhites, who travel North to face Spennymoor Town tomorrow (7.45pm kick-off), have now dropped to 11th place in the table, seven points shy of the play-off positions.
CHADDERTON secured an eye-catching 1-1 home draw against North-West Counties League First Division high-fliers Irlam.
Christian Lawlor fired the visitors into the lead in the 51st minute, but Chaddy roared back to earn a point thanks to Niall Sultan’s leveller. Chaddy return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bacup Borough.
