RUGBY: IT’S derby day at Peach Road tomorrow as hosts Waterhead Warriors start their Kingstone Press National Conference League campaign against Oldham St Anne’s (kick-off 2.30pm).
Saints have the advantage of a game under their belt, and joint coaches Sean Whitehead and Paul Ashton hope the club’s young charges take notice of the mistakes made in their Division Two opener.
Clutching a 26-10 lead over Crosfields at the break, the Higginshaw Road outfit were seemingly home and dry. But the visitors stormed back to claim a share of the spoils in a thrilling 28-28 draw.
Dave Orwell’s Waterhead ran Saddleworth Rangers close in the last four of the Napier Windows Standard Cup last month — they lost 18-10 — and will be looking to hit the ground running.
