Great eight for dominant Rifle

FOOTBALL: JACK Abbott Premier Division high-fliers Rifle were dominant as they breezed to an 8-0 victory against David Giblin Division One outfit High Crompton Victoria in the Oldham Sunday League President’s Trophy.
Coppice United progressed thanks to a 3-1 win at Fitton Hill.
Manchester Swifts squeezed through after beating FC Failsworth 4-3 on penalties. Robson, Goodier and Casson scored for the Swifts as the match ended 3-3 in normal time.
The only Premier Division action saw Westwood triumph 3-2 at basement side Carrion Crow thanks to Akhtar Hussain, Mokhlisur Rahman and Abul Hussain. Callum Beckett grabbed both Carrion’s goals.
Springhead Libs march on at the top of Division One. They crushed Old Skool 7-1 as Ben Cullen (two), Cameron Mason (two), Adam Bray, Andy Newton and Mabz Miah were on target. Harris Butt replied for Old Skool.
Britannia continue to go well in second place in Martin Buckley Division tow. Connor Kerrigan (two) and Danny Whittaker scored for the Brit in a 3-1 victory at Oldham Lions.
Liam Ure, James Nuttall, Kieran Thompson and David Jackson struck for Oldham XI in a 4-3 win at Dog and Partridge.
Oddies 14 defeated Horseshoe 4-1 courtesy of goals from David Sims, Merv Davies, Danny Smith and Owen Jones. Daniel Jackson struck for Horseshoe.
Meanwhile, Sunday League duo Crown FC and Top House both crashed out of the Manchester County Cup at the fifth-round stage.
Crown lost 2-1 at home to Vulcan FC, while Top House lost 2-0 when hosting Waterloo.
