Chance wasted for top billing

WITH leaders Prestwich Heys inactive, title hopefuls Royton Town missed the chance to go top of the FBT Manchester League Premier Division.

At home to mid-table Manchester Gregorians, Town were beaten 1-0 and remain second in the standings.

Local rivals Springhead are up to fifth after sweeping aside next-to-bottom Boothstown 4-1 and drawing 2-2 with Atherton Town on Easter Monday.

Avro suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Old Alts, while Uppermill only had a Thomas Simpson goal to show for their efforts as they succumbed 6-1 against visitors Dukinfield Town.

Hollinwood faced a stern examination at Division One high-flying East Manchester.

Unfortunately it proved beyond them as the leaders recorded a comfortable 8-1 victory.


FAILSWORTH Dynamos continue to set the pace in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division after a 2-0 defeat of hosts Tottington United. Dynamos are two points clear of Old Boltonians.

Chaddertonians remain second-bottom after losing 1-0 at Howe Bridge Mills.

Oldham Hulmeians hold a three point lead in Division One after a 4-0 success at fifth-placed Whitworth Valley.
