Whitehead: consistency is key

RUGBY: JOINT Oldham St Anne’s coach Sean Whitehead is aiming for a consistent run of form in the Kingstone Press National Conference League.
Saints host basement team Gateshead Storm tomorrow, on the back of a 36-16 loss at new Division Three leaders Crosfields.
“The scoreline didn’t reflect our efforts against Crosfields,” said Whitehead. “They are an experienced side and I thought we did well.
“The only disappointment so far this season was the defeat by Woolston Rovers. That was a mystery. It can happen, though, as young teams can be inconsistent.”
WATERHEAD Warriors face a tricky task in their bid to get off the mark in Division Three. The Peach Road club entertains high-flying Crosfields.
Without a point after two games, Waterhead has shown plenty of promise. Coach Dave Orwell will be confident a first win is just around the corner.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers saw their 100-per-cent record ruined at new Division Two leaders Leigh East.
But Paul Geener must be happy with his side’s start to 2016, with three league wins and the Standard Cup in the trophy cabinet.
Rangers won’t have an easy ride tomorrow. Visitors to Shaw Hall Bank Road, Hunslet Club Parkside, have won all four of their matches after snatching victory at home to Askam last weekend.
All games kick-off at 2.30pm.
