Town’s title tilt setback

FOOTBALL: ROYTON Town’s outside chance of claiming the Manchester League Premier Division title suffered a big blow on Tuesday as they lost 5-4 at Rochdale Sacred Heart.
Mark Howard’s men are now three points behind leaders Prestwich Heys, but they have played three games more. At the weekend Town hammered visitors Boothstown 9-2.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Avro won 2-0 at AFC Monton, while Springhead picked up a useful 1-0 victory at Atherton Town.
In Division One, Hollinwood were thumped 8-2 at home by Westbury Sports Club. See Match of the Day.
In midweek, Chadderton’s reserves lost 3-1 at Irlam Steel.
Meanwhile, Uppermill’s second string roared in the Bridgewater Cup final as they hammered local rivals Hollinwood ‘A’ 8-0.
