GOTCHA . . . Hollinwood's Tom Wilson (left) grabs an Ossett player as he makes a break in the Pennine League clash
HOLLINWOOD officials were pleased with their side's performance despite suffering an opening-day defeat in the Pennine League.
The Fields New Road club succumbed 46-22 to an excellent Ossett Trinity Tigers team in Division Two.
The Wakefield outfit were first on the board thanks to a converted try, before Pete Davies replied with a score goaled by Kevin Collins.
A glut of points saw Ossett take control of the game as they raced into a 28-6 lead at the break.
Hollinwood were not done with, though, as tries by Ashley Dixon, Davies again and Jack Donbavand - his first for the club - cut the deficit.
Dixon also touched down late on in the game, but not before Ossett had sealed victory.
The hosts showed great promise, with Collins and Tom Wilson leading from the front and Joel Wroe producing some powerful drives.
Double try-scorers Davies and Dixon impressed in the back division.
Hollinwood are at home again on Saturday - Hanging Heaton are the visitors - while Higginshaw get their campaign under way with a trip to Brotherton Bulldogs this weekend.
