Oasis Community Hub does impressive community work. They need votes to secure funding for an early-years financial education project in Oldham.
A spokesperson for the Hub said: “We are Oasis Hub Oldham, a charity based in Hollinwood, a deprived area of the town. We aim to strengthen community networks, raise aspirations and break cycles of poverty through activities such as youth clubs, adult education, illegal money-lending awareness and community events targeting cohesion.
“We would love your support for our Creative Credit project which will see us deliver early-years financial education through drama and other creative techniques, raising awareness among school students of issues such as personal finance, illegal money lending, the dangers of debt and improving the community.
“Funding will allow us to deliver our Play in a Day sessions to a new school, as well as providing staff and resources for three Young Savers’ after-school clubs which will work with students on financial education and budgeting. Those students will ultimately form the core of a school-based credit union. Thirty students will be involved from each school.”
Voting for the Nat West Skills and Opportunities Fund round two is open until midday Friday 10 November.
