Complaints about number 83 bus service from Manchester Piccadilly to Sholver

Date published: 22 November 2017

Terry Greenwood contacted Oldham Times complaining about the number 83 bus service from Manchester Piccadilly to Sholver.

he said: “For the last two or three months the buses have not been turning up on time and lately they have not turned up at all.

“They go to Sholver but not back down.

“Lots of people have complained.”

Rob Hughes, Oldham Operations Manager at First Manchester: “We are sorry to hear that one of our customers has been unhappy with the reliability of our 83 services and I would like to reassure them that we are working to improve this service and we already changes planned for January.

“Our overall figures show that the punctuality of the 83 service has actually improved over the last two to three months, so without knowing the full details of the complaint, it is difficult to highlight why this customer’s service may have been running behind schedule.

“For example, services were significantly impacted on Sunday 12 November, as a result of road closures for Remembrance Sunday; whilst we are made aware of these events, they are difficult to avoid as there are no feasible ways around these events nor is notice usually given within a timeframe whereby services can be changed.

“We continue to welcome feedback from our customers so that we can identify improvements for our services.”
