A Shaw nursery that education watchdogs slammed for leaving school gates unlocked and not keeping classrooms warm has now been saluted following rapid improvement.
Ofsted deemed Hobble Wobbles Nursery on Rochdale Road 'inadequate' in November last year for a number of problems, including safeguarding issues.
The previous inspection report highlighted some staff had poor knowledge of safeguarding issues and had left school gates unlocked while children played outside.
But a follow-up inspection carried out in February showed the manager has 'worked relentlessly' to improve the facility.
The private nursery, which looks after children up to five years old, was classed as ‘good’ by inspectors and safeguarding is now rated ‘effective’.
Inspectors stated in the report: “Staff morale is high and the manager has worked relentlessly since the last inspection to bring about change.”
It was added the manager had 'cultivated an ethos where only the best is good enough and has successfully embedded robust monitoring systems.
This has resulted in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment improving at a rapid rate'.
A 'robust safeguarding policy' is also now in place and understood by all staff.
In order to become outstanding the nursery needed to demonstrate to children how to pronounce words correctly and ensure also staff and children’s views are included in the school’s self-evaluation process.
