Former councillor funeral dates announced

Funeral dates have been announced for two former local councillors who recently passed away.
The funeral of former Oldham Mayor and Royton South councillor, Joe Farquhar, will take place at 9.45am tomorrow (Thursday) at the United Reformed Church on Union St, Oldham.
The cortege will then move on to Middleton Crematorium for 11.10am.
Mourners will be asked to make any donations to either the Royal British Legion or the Fusiliers Association.
A book of condolence remains available at the Civic Entrance (Rochdale Road Reception) at the Civic Centre and online at www.oldham.gov.uk/joefarquhar
The borough flag will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral as a mark of respect and the current Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Shadab Qumer, will attend the service on behalf of Oldham Council.
A date has also been announced for the funeral of former Hollinwood councillor, Brian Ames.
This will take place at 11.30am on Friday, April 6, at St Margaret’s Church on Chapel Rd, Hollinwood.
The cortege will then move on to Hollinwood Crematorium.
Mourners will be asked to make any donations to Asbestos Victims Support.
A book of condolence is also available to honour Cllr Ames at Rochdale Road Reception at the Civic Centre and Failsworth Town Hall as well as online at www.oldham.gov.uk/brianames
The Mayor will also be attending this on behalf of the council.
