A dedicated deputy headteacher and adventurer, Steve Hill MBE, is preparing to return to Uganda later this month for a journey that blends endurance sport with meaningful community work.
In just three weeks, Steve will take on the challenging Uganda Marathon for the eighth time, an impressive achievement that reflects both his passion for running and his long-standing commitment to supporting communities in the region.
As founder of Team Hill Charitable Trust, Steve has built strong partnerships with schools, healthcare providers and grassroots organisations in Uganda.
During this visit, he will spend time at a number of projects supported by Team Hill, including Jomain Midland Academy and the Eunice Medical Centre on Kalangala Island.
He will also visit several schools that benefit from ongoing support, including Rhinah Kindergarten and Primary School, Bugabira Primary School in Masaka, Primer Junior School, Hana Primary School and Beka Infant and Primary School.
His itinerary also includes time with the Make Women Smile Initiative, which supports women and families within local communities.
A key highlight of this year’s visit will be the opportunity to see the impact of three newly completed water wells funded by Team Hill. The wells are located in Buyinja Village, Kasaali Village and Senya Village and are providing vital access to clean water, significantly improving daily life for local residents.
Before travelling, These will be distributed directly to children and young people at the schools he visits, helping to support both education and wellbeing.
Steve has expressed sincere thanks to all those who continue to support the charity’s work, highlighting the importance of collective effort in driving these projects forward.
With another marathon ahead and a busy programme of visits planned, his latest trip underlines how determination, community spirit and sustained commitment can make a lasting difference across the globe.
