Greater Manchester Police have revealed that the driver of a car which crashed in Denshaw during the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday) was behind the wheel of the vehicle without insurance.
GMP released more information about the incident which happened just before 4am on Ripponden Road in Denshaw, including two pictures of the mangled red Mazda.
Yesterday the Chronicle reported that the crash saw the car come off the road and hit a lamppost, forcing officers to close the road, near the Junction Inn, for several hours.
The driver of the car, who was also said to be speeding at the time of the crash, was taken to hospital along with his passenger for treatment for various injuries including breaks and fractures, none of which are believed to be life-threatening.
The incident caused Ripponden Road to be closed for several hours following it while investigation work took place but the road has since reopened.
Police have said the driver of the car will be dealt with in due course.
