A murder investigation is under way in Chadderton
A murder investigation continues after the body of a woman - named as 55-year-old Jacqueline Smith - was found at a house in Chadderton.
Officers attended a property on Argyll Road at 12.30pm on Saturday after being contacted by the ambulance service following concerns over a woman’s welfare.
Jacqueline, known as Jackie, was found dead at the house.
A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Police said enquiries are ongoing and have appealed for witnesses.
A Greater Manchester Police major incident team spokesperson said: “We are still very much in the early stages of our investigation but we will do everything in our power to get the answers her family deserve.
“My thoughts go out to them at this difficult time and even though we’ve made an arrest, our enquiries continue."
