Oh yes it is - the panto returns to the Millgate Arts Centre!

Date published: 18 June 2018

The Millgate Arts Centre in Delph have unveiled their new panto for Christmas - Jack and the Beanstalk.

For a long time, Saddleworth has been Oldham’s poor relation when it comes to pantomimes, but staff at Millgate hope that all of that is about to change.

At their programme launch, the Millgate Arts Centre revealed they will be presenting Saddleworth’s own pantomime for the first time in 18 years.

After hearing the usual speeches about the upcoming programme, the audience was delighted and amazed as a panto dame dressed in full glitz and glamour exploded onto the stage, whipping the crowd into a frenzy.

Scott Worsfold, playing Dame Trot, had the audience in stitches with his quick-fire, tongue-in-cheek hilarity.

Even the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Javid Iqbal, ended up clapping along as Trot danced round the auditorium to the pop classic Gangnam Style!

Professional theatre producers, Dream Factory Theatre, revealed that they are making a huge investment to bring the panto to Saddleworth.

The set, costumes, pantomime cow and giant are already being constructed for the brand new script by award-winning writer Ben Richards.

The show will run for 18 public performances from December 15-31 and tickets are now available at: www.saddleworthlive.com.

However, if you can’t wait that long to meet the cast and characters keep your eyes peeled for their family funday in August.
