Don't miss flower-filled Oldham town centre

Date published: 12 July 2018

See nature at its finest with the return of Oldham’s annual free Flower Festival in the town centre.

Taking place on Saturday week, July 21 (11am-4pm), the event offers a wide range of fun flower and circus-themed activities for all the family to enjoy.

With Blossom and Buttercup, stars of Cartoon Network’s hit TV show The Powerpuff Girls, telling stories at 11am, 1pm and 3pm – plus a chance to meet the dynamic duo at 12noon and 2pm too – you don’t want to miss out.

You can also participate in circus skills workshops, run by Circus Sensible, around Oldham’s stunning town centre Wow Bed and catch shows from the madcap Madame Zucchini.

Don’t forget to get your hands dirty with some fun pot planting activities from Oldham Parks’ award-winning team of growers – and why not grab some expert advice from the team that you can put in to practice at home?

The fun doesn’t stop in the town centre though as Gallery Oldham will be buzzing with a hive of activity for their free annual Bee Day event on the same day (11am-4pm).

With honey tasting sessions, street theatre performances from Oldham Theatre Workshop, and a chance to meet Oldham’s resident bees and beekeeping experts – where you can see how the inside of a hive works – ‘Bee’ sure to come down.

Councillor Sean Fielding, Oldham Council Leader, said: “Oldham’s Flower Festival is another great example of the high quality events we hold in our town centre.

“Visitors came in their thousands to our recent Classic Car Show and I would encourage you all to come back and enjoy another day full of entertainment and activities.

“The festival brings a great deal of joy to the town centre every year and it really complements our fantastic flower displays.

"With lots of bee-related fun at Gallery Oldham on the day too, the town will literally be buzzing.”

Free parking is available for up to three hours in all council owned town centre car parks.

To qualify for this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine and place it on display in your vehicle.
