Parents are urged to make sure they take the children to the family-friendly #OldhamLIVE festival on Saturday, August 26 at Parliament Square, as there will be a host of first class performers in town to keep everyone thoroughly entertained.

The free all-day festival in Oldham town centre kicks off at lunchtime, and the afternoon shows promise a real treat for our youngsters.

Sid Sloane will be the pick of the juniors’ choice.

A British radio and television actor/presenter most well-known for his hosting work on the BBC’s CBeebies children’s channel, Sid has featured on such productions as Let’s Play and was their only remaining original presenter when he left the presentation team in April 2013.

In addition to his television work, Sid has previously been a weekends presenter on BBC Southern Counties Radio, while he has also appeared in Panto and BBC’s Celebrity Mastermind.

Russ Brown’s puppet show will then keep the kids captivated.

He is also about to begin his 11th year as the children's entertainer at Pontins in Blackpool, as well as performing at other Pontins camps around the country.

Having won many awards in the past, including the Leisure Parcs Entertainer Of The Year, 2009 saw Russ receive the coveted Ken Dodd Comedy Award.

If Sid and Russ still aren’t enough to keep your little ones entertained, Andy B’s Action Party is a fun-packed offering with magical fun shows, balloon modelling, plate spinning, music, party dances and many more games.

He has also worked with Mike and the Mechanics.

Also on the bill are one-time Brit Award nominees Sweet Female Attitude, whose massive number two chart hit Flowers in 2000 is considered a classic old school garage anthem.

There will also be a set from Ella Shaw, the Britain’s Got Talent 2015 semi-finalist who is now a successful singer songwriter with a mighty voice – plus a DJ set sure to excite from Revolution 96.2’s Dave Sweetmore, with Madchester anthems and Indie classics aplenty.
