Weather update - Cooler temperatures and cloud on the way

Date published: 21 August 2018

The heat over Oldham is set to disappear as we work ourselves through the week, with the bank holiday weekend tipped to become a much cooler affair.

This July was the world’s fourth warmest on record, but August is looking to give Oldham a taste of autumn.

Today (Tuesday), at least, we will continue to enjoy peak temperatures of 21°C.

The clouds will stay with us, however, allowing some sunny spells in the evening but giving the day a humid feel.

Tomorrow, cloud cover continues as rain creeps in during the afternoon.

Temperatures will again reach around 21°C, but a cooler night is in store with temperatures as low as 11°C.

It is not until Thursday that the heat dies off, peaking at around 16°C in the afternoon.

There is a slight chance of rain, but the day looks to be predominantly cloudy with a breeze.

The nights are getting cooler again, dropping to 9°C and as low as 7°C on Friday.

Friday will see the sun peeking through the clouds – along with the rain throughout the day and into the night.

It only looks to get as warm as 13 °C, and the moderate breeze will continue.

These trends persist throughout the bank holiday weekend, with coats needed for those attending OldhamLIVE as the weekend’s temperatures hover around 15 °C.

At least the rain is predicted to have disappeared by Sunday, giving way to a mild week with peak temperatures of 18°C and more chilly nights.
