Justin Watson has had further surgery.
22-year old Justin Watson, who was the overseas amateur at Shaw Cricket Club, was out on Yorkshire Street with his South African team mate, Marques Ackerman, when they were jumped by a number of men.
Ackerman was left unconscious on the ground while Justin suffered multiple injuries including two fractures and a dislocated jaw after being repeatedly punched in the face and head by the as many as four of the gang.
Despite having surgery shortly after the attack, Justin has since had to have further surgery following complications and has now started his recovery.
The promising cricketer had been on trial at Lancashire and had a number of other professional clubs looking at him, however the attack has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
Shaw Cricket Club had set up a benefit match for the 22-year old but that was cancelled due to the weather, they’ve also set up a gofundme page in order to help support Justin and his family as much as possible.

Greater Manchester Police said, shortly after the attack, that they’d arrested a 27-year old man on suspicion of a section 47 assault, he’s since been released under investigation while enquiries into the incident continued.
