British Transport Police have confirmed that a body has been found on railway lines near Greenfield Station.

It was shortly before 2pm on Tuesday when reports came in of a person on the tracks on the line between Manchester and Huddersfield, forcing the route to be closed for a considerable amount of time.

Emergency Services, including Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service, attended the scene, just off Oaklands Road, and found the victim who was pronounced dead a short time later.
