Shaw RBS branch to close

In all 54 RBS branches will close, at a cost of around 258 jobs
Royal Bank of Scotland have announced another raft of branch closures, effecting hundreds of jobs in England and Wales, including a store in Shaw.
In all 54 branches will close, at a cost of around 258 jobs.
The bank said the closures are a result of a collapse of plans to float off a new “challenger bank”.
An RBS spokesperson said: "As we are no longer launching Williams & Glyn as a challenger bank we now have two branch networks operating in close proximity to each other in England and Wales - NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland.
"As a result, we have reviewed our overall branch footprint in England and Wales and have made the difficult decision to close 54 Royal Bank of Scotland branches."
Customers in Shaw now have less than four months to use their RBS branch before it closes for good in January 2019.
The move will be seen as yet another blow to the high street, which has already seen a number of other banks close their stores along with several retailers doing the same over the course of the last couple of years.
These branch closures at RBS are on top of 162 other closures the bank announced earlier in the year, costing 792 jobs.
