FIRE ENGINES — READY FOR SERVICE
A fun day in aid of the Fire Service Humanitarian charity Operation Florian is taking place in Royton at the end of September.
It will be followed by a race night at the event, which will take place at Heyside Cricket Club on Sunday 30 September 2018.
The event will also be raising cash for the Kingfisher Community Special School and Heathbank Support Services.
There will be a kids’ fire engine, emergency service vehicles, food, face painting, stalls – and the chance to meet Cracker the Fire Dog.
Entry is a donation on the door and tickets are £3 for the race evening.
Operation Florian is a UK fire service humanitarian charity, working in developing countries to provide equipment and training to improve fire service capabilities.
Firefighters from Redwatch Ashton and Chadderton are organising the event.
They want to raise enough money to send a team to Sao Nicolau in Cape Verde next year.
There is a very limited volunteer fire service there and they don’t have a lot of training – or access to protective and firefighting equipment.
