Met Office lifts Oldham weather warning earlier than expected
Date published: 18 September 2018
Yellow weather warning issued for Oldham
High winds battered Oldham overnight on Monday and into Tuesday – with gusts of up to 40mph hitting the region.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning, which was due to be in place until 6pm on Tuesday – but that has since been lifted, earlier than expected.
The outlook for the rest of the day is brighter, with forecasters expecting some sunny spells in the after.
However, residents are being warned that the wind will continue.
More cloud and showery rain is expected this evening, with further gales possible.
The wind is likely to pick up on Wednesday, as the UK is battered by former Hurricane Helene – which has since been downgraded to a storm.
Showery rain will continue, turning heavy at times, and severe gales could be possible.
