Pair arrested following armed robberies

Two men have been arrested after armed robberies in Oldham and Rochdale.

Police investigating an armed robbery at a Post Office on Thornham Road in Oldham on Saturday (October 13) and an armed robbery at a hair salon on Oldham Road in Middleton have arrested two men aged 50 and 38.

One of the men has also been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and attempted robbery after a 61-year-old man was tied up and assaulted in his own home on Newbridge Lane in Stockport on Thursday (October 11) and possession of class A and B drugs.

The men are now in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Gina Brennand from GMP’s Stockport borough said: “Thanks to a swift investigation by our hardworking officers two men have been arrested in connection with a series of robberies over the past few days.

“We have also confiscated an imitation gun that we believe was used in the robberies.

“We may have made arrests but our investigation is in its early stages and I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any of these incidents or may hold information that could help police.”
