Man dies following house fire

A man from Rochdale who was left in a critical condition in hospital following a house fire at a property in Castleton yesterday morning has died from his injuries.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called by the fire service, shortly before 8am yesterday (Monday) to a report of a man on fire at a property on Kirklee Road in Rochdale.
When they arrived they found the man, believed to be in his 50s, had suffered serious injuries.
He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
A second man, aged in his 20s, escaped the property from an upstairs window.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The property suffered significant fire damage.
Police launched a joint investigation into the cause of the fire alongside Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
A file will be passed to the coroner.
