Eight years in jail awaits Oldham drug dealer

An Oldham dealer has been jailed after officers seized drugs worth over £47,000 and £37,000 in cash.

Glynn Davies, aged 47, of Eustace Street, Oldham was sentenced to eight years at Manchester Crown Court for possession of class A and B drugs with intent to supply, possessing criminal property and supplying class A drugs.

He had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.

In May 2018, officers executed a warrant at Davies’ home address.

Officers searched a bedroom in the property and seized a large amount of cash, a number of mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

A notebook was found which contained lists of names, numbers and weights which are thought to refer to customers and the amount they owed.

Officers searched a shed in the back garden and discovered a large amount of cocaine, as well as scales, bowls and craft knives thought to have been used for packaging the drugs.

The cocaine has an estimated value of almost £40,000.

In another shed in the garden, a quantity of cannabis was recovered with an estimated value of almost £7,000.

Davies conducted his criminality using encrypted mobile devices.

Detective Chief Inspector James Faulkner from GMP’s Oldham Borough said: “Drugs destroy lives and the profits of dealing go to lining the pockets of dangerous people like Davies who blight our communities.

“I am pleased with this result as Davies must now face the next eight years in prison and can no longer plague our streets with drugs.

“I hope this case sends a clear message that our officers are committed to doing everything we can to rid our streets of these criminals and make Oldham a safer place to live."
