Today (November 5) might officially be bonfire night, but for crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service it was yesterday (Sunday) which appeared to be their busiest night of the week, and not always for the right reasons.
Fire crews were called to several incidents across Greater Manchester, but they were also targeted by youths throwing fireworks at them in Tameside and Oldham.
According to posts on the fire service’s social media accounts they were called out to reports of firefighters from Chadderton being called to Kingstone Drive in Royton where youths were blamed for throwing fireworks at a bonfire.
There have also been reports of five youths involved with a fire in a car park in Chadderton last night as well.
Yesterday there was a significant fire in a field in Openshaw just before 5.30pm, with a crew from Ashton attending.
When they arrived at the scene fireworks and stone were thrown at them by “youths”.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident.
