Date published: 15 November 2018

A Failsworth pub has been closed after a man was stabbed over the weekend.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Failsworth and Hollinwood branch attended the Royal Oak pub early on Saturday morning and discovered a man with a severe wound.

A statement on the GMP Failsworth and Hollinwood Facebook page reads: "At 00:50 hours on Saturday, November 10, 2018, police received information from the North West Ambulance Service that a male had been stabbed at the Royal Oak, Failsworth Pole.

"On police arrival a 23-year-old male was found with a severe injury to his right thigh.

"Following the incident an expedited licencing hearing was held at the Oldham Civic Centre after the Police raised concerns over recent incidents at the location.

"The panel decision was to suspend the premises licence for three months.

"A full review of the licence will be held on December 7.

"The premises will now close until the decision is reviewed.

"Violent crime will not be tolerated In licensed premises in Failsworth."

The Chronicle recently reported a similar incident during which two men were assaulted at the same pub.
