Derbyshire Police have confirmed their officers searching for a mum and her five-year old son, who were reported missing on Tuesday, have found two bodies at a reservoir.

They say they do believe the bodies are those of 41-year old Emma Sillett and Jenson Spellman.

However, formal identification is still to take place.

The pair were reported missing from their home in Glossop on Tuesday (November 20) before being spotted at a branch of McDonalds on Stockport Road in Hattersley that same day.

At the time officers said they believed Emma was driving her black Peugeot 308, this was found next to Valehouse Reservoir yesterday morning (Thursday), shortly before police found the two bodies.

In a statement, Assistant Chief Constable Kem Mehmet, from Derbyshire Police, said: “After a detailed search by specialist officers, it is with great sadness, that the bodies of what are believed to be Emma and Jenson were located at Valehouse Reservoir earlier today.

“At this time our enquiries are ongoing, and officers will be in the area for some time to come.

“Whilst in the investigation is in its early stages we have no indication that any other person is involved in their deaths.

"Further enquires are ongoing to establish the full facts of the case.

“I would like to take this opportunity to pass on my own condolences, as well as those of every officer in Derbyshire, to the family and friends of Emma and Jenson.”
