TEDx Oldham event set for Friday

Date published: 17 July 2019

Oldham will host a TEDx event at Oldham Library on Friday.

The programme has been created by TED, a non-profit organisation devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks.

TEDx is a program of local, independently-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience

It’s hoped the event will allow people to share their ideas in short presentations, engaging with those in the room and inspiring them.

TEDx, which takes place on Friday 19th July, will have a number of speakers from across the town who will spark deep discussion and debate among small groups of people.

Marzia Babakarkhail

The events, which are set to be held over 51 venues and stream live online, will feature speakers including Mentoring Relationship Specialist at the GC Business Growth Hub Andy Hall and human rights campaigner and former Supreme Court Judge in Afghanistan Mariza Babakarkhail.

Lisa Marie Gee

There will also be a talk from Social Media coach Rubbi Bhogal-Wood, along with Oldham photographer and mum of two Lisa Marie Gee.

The event will be streamed live to Hack Oldham, BizSpace Hollinwood, and Manchester Central Library.  There are various "watch parties" organised throughout the borough.
