Oldham to play host to ‘tree planting party’

Date published: 05 March 2020

On Saturday 21 March charity City of Trees will be holding a ‘tree party’ at Plumpton Clough in Oldham.

The event will celebrate 500,000 trees being planted by the City of Trees movement in Greater Manchester since 2016 as well as marking the end of tree planting season which runs from November – March each year.

The public are invited to attend this event which is taking place from 10am – 3pm on urban green space Plumpton Clough, supported by the local Friends of Group and Oldham Council.

There will be a solar powered DJ to bring the party atmosphere and light refreshments as well as tools and equipment provided. People are asked to bring their own spade if they can, as well as support the work for the charity by donating – every £10 helps plant a tree.

On the day around 1,000 new sapling trees will be planted to improve the area for both people and wildlife.

For more information and to register to attend the event visit the City of Trees website: www.cityoftrees.org.uk/event/end-season-tree-planting-party.
