Oldham-based online retailer asks customers to support Manchester foodbank

The UK’s leading online retailer of netball trainers, products and kit is launching an appeal for its customers to support a Manchester food bank where demand is outstripping supply due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Oldham-based Netball UK is backing the Compassion Foodbank which is asking for urgent help at a critical time for those who rely on them, and those who may need to in the weeks ahead.

As well as donating as a business, the retailer has set up a collection point at its shop on Pennant Street.

A large basket by the shop door means items can be left without interacting with anyone.

Hand sanitiser will also be available so donors can clean their hands and protect themselves.

Debbie Hallas, Managing Director of Netball UK, said: “These are difficult times for everyone – from those of us in business who are facing a challenging period but, more importantly, for those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families now, and those who may well struggle in the weeks and months ahead.

“It can sometimes feel hard to know what to do to help, so I decided that Netball UK would support the Compassion Foodbank who do amazing work to support those who need it.

“I’ve asked all our customers who can to support our efforts and hope it can make a real difference to those who are facing hardship during this crisis.”

The Collection Point is located at Netball UK, Pennant Street, Oldham, OL1 3BS, and will be open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The foodbank needs a range of items - cereals; tinned soups and stews; pasta, rice and pasta sauce; tinned meat and fish; tinned beans and vegetables; tinned fruit; condiments and spices; oil; broth and stock; all-natural juice.
