Date published: 27 March 2020

Police have begun an investigation into the sexual assault of a woman in her 30s on Collyhurst Road in the Collyhurst area of Manchester.

At around 8pm on Wednesday, March 25, officers were called to reports that a man had approached a woman from behind and sexually assaulted her before making off when being disturbed by someone nearby.

The woman suffered an abrasion under her chin and was left understandably distressed by the incident.

The offender is described as a white man with a very skinny build and pale skin, green/brown eyes and around 5ft 7ins tall.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, a big dark zipped coat, black pyjama-like bottoms and white trainers.

No arrests have been made and investigators are appealing to the public for information.

Detective Inspector Claire Moss, of GMP’s North Manchester division, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim of this awful, predatory attack and our specialist officers are working closely with her at this terrible time.

“We are currently working to establish several lines of enquiry and are keen to hear from members of the public who may have witnessed this incident to come forward with any information they have to aid our investigation.

“It is important that this man is caught and brought to justice and we will do all we can to find him.

"I urge anyone who knows this man to do the right thing and contact police.”

Anyone with any information should contact North Manchester CID on 0161 856 1146 quoting incident number 2455 of 25/03/2020.
