Robbery attempt - police seek public's help

Police have released CCTV of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery in Manchester.

At around 12.45pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020, police were called to reports of an attempted robbery on Bury Old Road.

Officers attended and established that a cash-in-transit driver was collecting a quantity of cash from a bank when he was approached by a man.

The man threatened the victim before trying to snatch the cash from his hands.

Following a struggle, the man left the scene on foot empty handed.

No one was injured.

An investigation is underway.

No arrests have been made.

Detective Constable Jason Bell, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This incident happened several weeks ago, but our enquires are very much ongoing.

“We are today releasing a CCTV image of a man who we believe could assist us with our enquiries.

“I would like to appeal to the man, anyone who knows him or anyone who has information about the incident to get in touch with us.”
