Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Mersey Bank Avenue
Police are appealing for information after a disturbance in Manchester.
At around 8:40am on Saturday morning (May 9) police were called to reports of a disturbance on Mersey Bank Avenue, Manchester close to the Mersey Bank convenience store.
A 49 year-old man was taken to hospital with a head injury.
He has since been discharged.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Chris Maddocks, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “This was a violent disturbance which has resulted in a man being injured.
“I would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident which is being investigated thoroughly.
"Residents in the area may see increased police patrols in the area while our officers complete their enquires.
“This incident happened in broad daylight and I am confident that there may be a number of witnesses who may be able assist officers with their investigation.
"If you have any information at all, please get in contact with police.”
