Following Saddleworth Round Table’s success in raising more than £10,000 for Oldham Hospitals front line NHS staff, the relentless fundraisers are championing a new cause.
Oldham Foodbank has seen a huge rise in demand due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The most needy in the community have turned to the Foodbank as a last line of help for some of the simplest things including basic food items and hygiene products.
In fact the demand is now so great, the Foodbank has had to temporarily relocate from its Manchester Street offices in to the new Oldham Sports Centre to cope with the storage and distribution.
Now, on Saturday (May 16) from 10am-3pm, of Saddleworth Round Table will have a donation drop off point at The Kingfisher pub car park, next door to Tesco in Greenfield.
Anyone can drive in and drop off food stuffs without getting out of their car. In edition, pedestrians will have a socially distanced drop off point too.
In return, all donors will receive free Saddleworth Round Table refillable alcohol hand sanitiser, as currently supplied to Oldham Hospital.
Mike Coulter of Round Table said: "I have been helping the Foodbank at weekends throughout the pandemic and the need of young families with children is heartbreaking.
“If anyone can donate any food products, in particular dried or tinned food, tinned fish or hygiene products, they will be very gratefully received by some of Oldham’s most in need at present".
Oldham Food bank is a not for profit, non political, non religious organisation that provides emergency help to all people in need. Not only do they provide food, they also provide internet access, help with form filling and job applications and a free telephone service.
Saddleworth Round Table is a local social group and registered charity for men aged 18-45 who provide support for a vast array of local causes with manpower or financial support.
