An iconic band club has confirmed it will not be opening any if its facilities following the latest government update on the coronavirus.
Terry Lawless, chair of Dobcross Band and Social club, says: “In order to dispel any uncertainty following the latest update from the Government, we will NOT be opening any of the Band Club facilities, including the bowling green, until there is a significant reduction in the risk of catching and transmitting the virus.
"There is a very real danger all the good work and sacrifices people have made will be undone if we don’t adopt a realistic approach to dealing with the return to some semblance of normality.
"As people start to move more freely, the likelihood of a surge in the disease is extremely high. The next few weeks are likely to see a new peak in both infections and deaths.
"With this in mind our advice is to continue to stay home and stay safe. We will review the situation at the end of May and keep you informed of any developments."
