Dedicated fundraisers Saddleworth Round Table are aiming to rally the community to support Oldham Foodbank with a special food stuffs drop-in tomorrow (Saturday).

Kind-hearted folk can take their a food donations to a drop-off point at the Kingfisher pub car park, next door to Tesco in Greenfield, tomorrow from 10am-3pm.

Motorists won’t have to leave their cars and pedestrians will have their own dedicated, socially distanced drop-off point too.

In return, all donors will receive a free Saddleworth Round Table refillable alcohol hand sanitiser, as currently supplied to Oldham Royal Oldham Hospital.

Currently, the Foodbank is running low on:
• Tinned fish
• Cooking sauces
• Fresh and tinned fruit
• Rice pudding
• Shampoo, shower gel and deodorant
• Teabags - small boxes
• Tinned soup

Other items needed are toiletries: feminine hygiene products and cleaning products (but not bleach).

More than 3,500 Oldham residents have been given vital aid and support by the Oldham Community response during the Covid-19 crisis.

Oldham Foodbank, Action Together and Oldham Council have worked together to coordinate the delivery of emergency food and other essential personal and household basic items to people in need.

Mike Coulter of Round Table said: "I have been helping the Foodbank at weekends throughout the pandemic and the need of young families with children is heartbreaking.

“If anyone can donate any food products, in particular dried or tinned food, tinned fish or hygiene products, they will be very gratefully received by some of Oldham’s most in need at present."

Oldham Foodbank is a not for profit, non political, non religious organisation that provides emergency help to all people in need.

Not only do they provide food, they also provide internet access, help with form filling and job applications and a free telephone service.
