Cycle-mad twins Jack and Sam Glendinning vowed to support inspirational Captain Sir Tom Moore's valiant fundraising cause - by doing everything at the double.

The boys, aged seven, came up with a novel way to back NHS Charities Together with their very own Ride for Heroes bike challenge.

They set themselves a tough target of each completing 500 laps on their bikes - in the garden of their Saddleworth home.

Said their proud mother Louise: “The challenge meant they completed 54 miles between them round the garden.

"It took them 32 days to actually complete the challenge, which they celebrated in amazing Formula One style with a non alcoholic fizz plus a special 2020 Lockdown Medal to mark their great achievement.

“Doing the challenge really built their confidence on their bikes and they were eager to get out and do more laps each day.

"Having set a fundraising target of £200, they are now both over the moon about raising more than double that for such a deserving cause - they've now raised £457 in all.”

The boys are both Year Two pupils at Holy Trinity CE primary and nursery school, Dobcross.
