A former aircraft load controller and dispatcher from Failsworth appears to have hit the ground running with his opening foray into the exciting world of documentary film-making.

After 10 years at Manchester Airport, Louis Harding lost his job earlier this year thanks largely to the continuing coronavirus crisis.

His long-held passion for videography subsequently drew Louis into what he hopes will become his new career.

Prospects look promising on that score, because just two days after releasing his first full documentary - 'The war on Covid-19' - last Saturday (September 19), it has amassed just short of 50,000 views.

Louis said: "After losing my job, I started to produce my very first self-made documentary.

"I thought, what better subject to cover that covid-19.

"I chose Covid as it was certainly the reason I lost my job.

"I thought why not cover something what has affected me and I was passionate about.

"Throughout my journey I visited Manchester and Oldham and I was shocked to see the difference in both areas - not only physically but financially.

"Thanks to the invaluable help of my friend and producer colleague Nyle Walker, I was really pleased with the finished product.

"The film has been really well received, with lots of positive reaction regarding my talent for film-making."

As well as Manchester and Oldham, Louis has also visited Medellin and Bogota in Colombia, South America.

An unusual choice of places to visit, one may think.

Louis added: "I visited Colombia before the pandemic hit and I was naturally drawn to the country. It was crazy.

"I was interested to find out how the pandemic unfolded in a different country."

Given the phenomenal response to his opening documentary, it's perhaps not surprising to hear that Louis will soon be back with a follow-up.

"Because of the results I've had back from the Covid documentary and the response I've had, I am already planning a second documentary on UK’s knife crime, but with a twist," revealed Louis, who is heading down to London to film next week.

He is hoping his second documentary film will be released next month.
