A total of 85 FPNs were issued between Friday to Sunday
Greater Manchester Police has now issued at total of 400 Fixed Penalty Notices for breaches of Covid 19 legislation following a busy weekend for officers.
A total of 85 FPNs were issued between Friday to Sunday, with incidents including a birthday party in Bolton with 30 people in attendance.
Eight FPNs were issued at this incident.
In Heaton Moor, Stockport officers attended a wedding reception where around 60 people were in attendance.
An FPN was issued at this incident.
One single offender in Bolton now has four FPNs, with an accompanying fine totalling £800.
It follows officers being called to reports of a large gathering at the same property in Pentland Terrace, Bolton on four separate occasions – the latest being at 2am yesterday (Sunday).
Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Nick Bailey, said: “While the vast majority of people in Greater Manchester continue to abide by Governement legislation, there are some who continue to flout the law.
“I would appeal to this small minority to think of the safety of their nearest and dearest before making decisions that literally risk people’s lives.
“Should that not be reason enough, I would also remind people of the very stark financial penalties now in place for failing to follow lockdown guidance – with fines doubling for each further breach.
“I’d like to thank our officers for the dedication and patience during what was a very busy weekend.
“I’d also like to thank the majority of people in Greater Manchester for helping to keep themselves and others safe by continuing to follow Government guidance.”
