12 Oldham businesses told to close for breaching restriction rules

Date published: 09 November 2020

Council officials and Oldham police officers have been out in the community over the past week in a bid to monitor activity regarding the current national lockdown restrictions.

The stricter restrictions were introduced across England last Thursday (November 5) and will last until December 2.

A total of 12 local businesses were closed during the weekend.

An Oldham Council Facebook page post read this morning (Monday): "Our officers visited 330 business premises over the weekend.

"We’d like to thank the majority, which are protecting their staff and the public by adhering to lockdown trading restrictions.

"However, during these visits, the Council has had to close 12 businesses who were trading when they shouldn’t, including six car wash businesses.

"We’ll continue to carry out inspections and will take against those who aren’t complying."

A similar post on GMP Oldham's Twitter page read: "Six Fixed Penalty Notices have been issued by Oldham police in the last week.

"A number of people from different households were at these addresses before being issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice and asked to disperse. "

Don't forget, you may only leave home for specific reasons.

They include:

For education

For work, if you cannot work from home

For exercise and recreation outdoors, with your household or on your own, with one person from another household

For medical reasons, appointments and to escape injury or harm

To shop for food and essentials

To provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer

To provide childcare
