A knife sweep by Saddleworth neigbourhood officers resulted in police detaining a juvenile male for drug offences.

A post on the GMP Saddleworth and Lees Facebook page read: "On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 10, officers from the neighbourhood team conducted a knife sweep of the playing fields at Uppermill village and then at Churchill playing fields, the wooded area around it and the surrounding streets.

"As a result of their deployment a juvenile male was detained for drug offences under the bridge off Halls Way at Greenfield.

"Officers will continue to support the local community in this hotspot area of youth related anti-social behaviour activity.

"The local community at Greenfield have flagged this area to us, and officers will support them wherever possible - as they will in all areas of Saddleworth and Lees - in tackling ASB.

"Staff from the neighbourhood team will be deploying in a number of areas over the next few days to tackle ASB and related activity.

"We are determined to support our local community at Saddleworth and Lees and are ready to respond to your calls."
