Maximus Foundation UK has provided Mahdlo Youth Zone with a grant of £2,500 to continue providing activities and experiences for disadvantaged young people.

The charity, based in Oldham, offers a range of activities, including sports, arts and personal development, with the aim of raising aspirations and supporting young people to fulfil their potential.

The donation forms a part of the Foundation’s dedicated fundraising to help local charities nationwide affected by the COVID-19 crisis, which totalled £95,000 in 2020.

Grant beneficiaries are selected from nominations made by Maximus UK employees.

The grant was awarded via a virtual cheque presentation by a Maximus Foundation trustee.

Di Briggs, Chair, Maximus Foundation UK, said: “The outlook for smaller charities across the UK continues to be very challenging.

"So we’re delighted to be able to help Mahdlo Youth Zone to continue their work providing much-needed support and activities for young people in their community."

Claire Crossfield, Fundraising Manager at Mahdlo, said: “The funding from the Maximus Foundation has enabled us to continue to be there for young people at a critical time.

"It has helped us to provide dedicated youth workers to support young people with additional needs or disabilities who have suffered because of the social impacts of COVID-19.

"Their support has helped us maintain a vital lifeline, enabling young people to talk to trusted and trained adults on their terms."
