Laptop donations to Mahdlo to support online learning

The Mahdlo Youth Zone in Oldham

Young people at Mahdlo Youth Zone in Oldham received a boost today when laptops were donated by online electrical retailer AO to support their online learning.

The centre is a part of OnSide Youth Zones Network, which operates 18 youth zones across the UK.  

Although schools have re-opened, many young people are still facing periods of home learning, due to self-isolation and other factors.
 
As youth centres are considered an essential service, they have been able to remain open and offer targeted support to restricted numbers of young people face to face throughout current lockdown restrictions.   

Onside Youth Zones nationwide have been providing invaluable support for young people throughout lockdown, with many offering homework clubs for young people to access lessons using laptops at their local Youth Zone.

AO has now donated brand new Asus laptops for young people in 10 different Youth Zones, including Mahdlo.

The new laptops will be used to help young people at risk of digital exclusion to achieve their personal goals and ambitions through online learning.

AO Founder and Chief Executive, John Roberts, said: “Young people are paying a devasting price for Covid at the very time they should be focused on their dreams and ambitions. Talent is evenly distributed but sadly opportunity is not, so we’re partnering with OnSide Youth Zones to help young people release their potential.”

Access to technology directly impacts how young people are able to engage in their learning which is why this donation by AO.com is so welcome. It will have a direct impact on our goal to ensure all young people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Mahdlo is supported by the Stoller Charity Trust, set up by Sir Norman Stoller.  Back in 2000, Sir Norman was one of the original investors in AO.
