Brassbank, the owners of the land surrounding Boundary Park, have taken action to prevent unauthorised drivers from accessing the site.
It follows anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping on the land by drivers using a cut-through next to gates which protected the site.
Brassbank have now installed a metal post and stop drivers using the cut-through and accessing the land.
Royton councillors have been working with Brassbank, Glo Gym, Greater Manchester Police and local residents to try and resolve ongoing anti-social behaviour issues in the area.
Last year, councillors secured agreement from Glo Gym that their staff would be responsible for opening and closing the gates onto the site, in an attempt to prevent anti-social behaviour in the early hours of the morning.
The gates have remained locked during the closure of the gym due to Coronavirus restrictions.
However, residents have witnessed cars mounting the pavement to go through the gap between the closed gates and the fence to get onto the land. Some of the drivers have then been fly tipping on the land or causing anti social behaviour and disturbing local residents.
Royton councillor Amanda Chadderton said: "I am really pleased Brassbank agreed to install the post and cut of the prospect of drivers illegally mounting the pavement to access their site. We have had a range of issues on this land for a number of years now and I am happy that we are all taking a proactive approach to dealing with this.
"It is disappointing that people think it is acceptable to go and fly tip or cause anti-social behaviour, particularly right to residential properties but it is pleasing that we are finding solutions to this and will hopefully make a difference."
