RSPCA charity stores in Oldham to reopen from today, after drain on resources.

Date published: 11 April 2021

The RSPCA Bury, Oldham & District will be re-opening its ten charity stores from 10am on Monday 12 April.

In store physical distancing will remain at 2m across all open stores.

Quarantining of new donations, signage, limited access levels and personal protective equipment for staff are some of the continued safety measures in place, to ensure the safety and wellbeing for all staff and customers.

Funds generated from items sold in the charity’s network of shops are especially vital right now, as this only source of income has been lacking for almost a year.

It's estimated that the charity has lost over £200k last year and is set to lose over £300k this year.

The Branch faces an uncertain future unless income starts to make up for losses during the closures.

Vincent Sherard-Bornshin, Chief Executive Officer at the Bury, Oldham District Branch said:

“With my executive management team, trustees and staff, we have put plans in place to start re-opening retail shops from 12th April on the advice from the Government and we look forward to safely welcoming customers and donors back into our stores.

Customers can shop with us with confidence we have done everything possible to ensure our stores are as safe as possible”

“We are a self-funded, RSPCA licenced independent local charity that does not receive direct high-level funding from the National Society and rely on our shop sales and donations to continue to offer the love and care to animals, until we can find them their forever home.

“Our big news in our retail operation is that this year, we converted our Springhead shop on Oldham Road into a furniture and picture and art store."

The ten stores that the charity operate will open their doors at 10am and people are encouraged to visit their website for details of specific opening times, locations, and contact details.
